From dappled light to contre-jour; warm interior light to cold northern light; direct light or defused light; light has been a preoccupation for artists for centuries. During these painting classes, we will explore a range of successful painting techniques and approaches to capturing, not a subject, but light itself. 

This video, oil painting course is suitable for artists of all abilities, looking to improve their painting skills and the ability to capture light in their paintings.

During the 4 lessons, we will cover the following:

• Capturing the visual effect of silhouette using simple shapes.

• Contre-jour and dazzling, direct, sparkling light.  

• Painting strongly cast shadows on a brightly lit cottage.

• Exploring warm and cool light in a Venetian scene.

By the end of this course, you will have created at least 4 different paintings.
