About this course

Digging sandcastles, jumping over waves, watery reflections and sand in your toes; this new online painting course will show you how to turn some of your very favourite family holiday photographs into paintings that capture the light, colour and life of your summer holidays. You can work from the same images that Peter is working from, or, work from your own special images of family and friends.

During the 3 lessons, you will cover the following:

  • How to start the painting using an underpainting and ground wash

  • How to achieve accurate figurative proportions

  • Achieving a sense of light and colour in your painting

  • Where the use of oil painting mediums can help achieve reflections and other effects

  • What to put in and what to leave out to make a stronger painting

  • Keeping your paintings fuss-free and not overworked

Who is this class for?

These classes are suitable for artists of all abilities, looking to improve their painting skills and create inspiring and impactful paintings with confidence and enjoyment.

Materials

This workshop will be taught with the medium of oil paint. However, artists working with acrylic paints are also warmly welcomed to join, as many of the methods would be suitable for this medium.

By the end of this course, you will have created at least 3 different paintings. You are welcome to work from the provided images or ones of your own.
