About this course

Painting the human face remains Peter’s favourite subject matter and during this NEW online painting course, you will learn how he paints 2 different half-length portraits, in his own loose and painterly style.

During the 4 lessons, you will cover the following:

  • How to begin the portrait whilst successfully composing them on the canvas

  • Achieving accurate proportions whilst keeping the painting loose

  • Creating a range of colours that work together and capture the character of the subject

  • Strategies for painting arms and hands

  • The two different models we will be painting from will be a redheaded man and young costumed girl (an example of which you can see above)

What is included:

  • 4 × 3 hour video lessons

  • The ability to watch the lessons as many times as you need before Feb 2028.

  • Detailed structured teaching notes that accompany each specific lesson.

  • Excellent, high-quality reference images to work from.

  • Suggested materials list.

By the end of this course, you will have created 2 different half-length portrait paintings.
