Gouache is seeing a bit of a revival at the moment, with many artists across the world using it as the perfect medium to travel with, as a preliminary medium or as a finished painting medium in it’s own right. These classes have been designed to show you exactly how gouache works, how helpful it can be to strengthen your painting in other mediums, and how the simple gouache painting can hold it’s own alongside watercolour, oils or acrylics.

During the 3 lessons, you will cover the following:

  • Exploring the unique properties of gouache and how they differ from other mediums

  • How to work with the medium from paint thickness and layering, to colour mixing

  • Painting a range of subjects including landscape, flowers and still-life (example reference images above)

What is included:

  • 3 × 2-hour video lessons

  • The ability to watch the lessons as many times as you need before Feb 2027.

  • Detailed structured teaching notes that accompany each specific lesson.

  • Excellent, high-quality reference images to work from.

  • Suggested materials list.

By the end of this course, you will have created at least 3 different paintings and numerous sketchbook/painted studies.
